| New PhysHelp Web Interface |
The PhysHelp facility is designed to help Physics Computing Services better responds to problems and issues that the faculty, staff, students, and affiliates of the University of Maryland Physics Department have with their computers or the computing infrastructure.
You may submit a PhysHelp at:
New PhysHelp Web InterfaceThere you will find three options:
This is the new, enhanced version of the web interface for PhysHelp. Members of the University community (anyone with a campus LDAP directory account and username, or a PNCE-Unix/Glue/WAM account and username) should use the enhanced interface. It requires you to log in, but will pick up a lot of information from LDAP so that you do not need to type it in. Also, you have access to view and update recent requests.
If you are not part of the University community, or do not know or are having problems with your UMD LDAP/PNCE-Unix/Glue/WAM username and password, you can use the unauthenticated version. NOTE: Physics Computing Services still only provides support to members and colleagues of the UMD Physics Department, so using the unauthenticated interface will not get you support if you are not a member or affiliate of the department. Indeed, you will be required to briefly state you affiliation before your request will be submitted.
If for some reason you are having problems with the new web interface, the old web interface will still be available for a while. Please include a description of any problems with the new interface with your physhelp request so that it can be address. The plan is to disable the old interface once the new interface seems robust enough.
